Just signed up for the Ropet Kickstarter and they want $1 to give you VIP access to reserve a spot for the early-bird price.

Do you think it’s worth paying? Anyone else here paid and can confirm the benefits of doing so? What did you get?

I’m trolling the company with the above post if you hadn’t realised😂

I’ve decided not to pay considering they’ve already got $52 mil worth of Lovot IP for free. I mean the similarities wouldn’t bother me but when they even imitated Lovot’s oral cavity and then have the audacity to ask for this $1🤦‍♂️

The principle of using that unique idea without compensating the inventor and then asking for free money for a competing product just rubs me the wrong way🤷‍♂️

"Get exclusive deals on my upgrades"...
DEALS???
I'm new to the robot companion sphere, I wasn't expecting to pay for upgrades. In a simple text it is logical to pay for upgrades, ofcourse. But as with everything marketeable on the software and gaming scene, it is well known that the "base/basic" purchase has very limited options. Seeing a posibility to "pay" for upgrades makes me fear that, to enjoy a semi-complete robot, I would have to pay extra money.

Also, why only $1? Robots are expensive, why asking such a low price for a subcription?

I think the $1 is just to raise money for the website hosting or to gauge interest but honestly have no idea why they are asking for it. Apparently it’s normal practice on Kickstarter to do this. It’s not necessary to pay and you can still get early access when the Kickstarter opens.

The company that launched Loona did a similar thing. I’ll post the early-bird link here once the Kickstarter opens.
