Thread to discuss Tesla’s We, Robot event happening in a few hours😁

Predicted tech we will see unveiled:

• Optimus Gen 3 hardware designed from scratch.

• Tesla’s autonomous robotaxi concept Cybercab launched.

• Launch of X Phone smartphone running a super version of the X app with direct Starlink cellular access on which the Robotaxi service will be facilitated. Musk met Samsung’s CEO during the Paris Olympics and the We, Robot event logo shows what looks like rocket exhaust reflection in a camera lens, suggesting Starlink will play a central role in any technology unveiled.

What did you think of We, Robot? The immersive nature of the event where attendees get to go on a ride through a futuristic theme park in the new Cybercab was completely unique. Also really liked the fact Optimus was freely accessible and would be walking among the attendees and serving them drinks.

Looks like Tesla is keeping us in suspense as we didn’t see a Gen 3 unveiling.

Tesla have successfully solved autonomy for Optimus, which was shown walking and moving incredibly confidently. The hardware seems to still be the Gen 2 although the torso may have had a redesign as seems more flexible.

Musk mentioned there would be twenty Optimus at the event, serving drinks and mingling among attendees. This is big as it shows Optimus can autonomously navigate with a high level of reliability to be safe around people.

We didn’t see the Optimus light show on the livestream, a perk enjoyed by attendees only it seems.

• Passive Income through Robotaxi: It will be possible to purchase Cybercab in future and own your own fleet- allowing anyone the opportunity to generate a passive income stream! This is huge. It seems in a highly automated future owning robots like Cybercab or Optimus that can generate passive income by offering transportation and labor services will replace the traditional 9 to 5 workweek.



• Optimus Gen 2: Optimus was showcased suggesting Tesla have solved a lot of technical hurdles relating to autonomy. It seems the main purpose of Optimus’s presence at the event was to give Tesla shareholders a taste of the future to come in the next 3-5 years; when a lot of transport will be autonomous and robots will walk among us.

In order not to overshadow the huge achievements of Unsupervised FSD, Cybercab & Robovan the launch of Optimus Gen 3 will be a separate event.

Turns out Optimus Gen 3 was unveiled at the We, Robot event. Kind of. The dancing hand towards the end of the event at 1:26:12 appears to be the new 22 degrees of freedom hand!
