Musk just posted a possible Gen 3 reveal. Could be actual footage or an image that has been animated with AI.

What stands out for me:

Safety: Tesla have completely solved the issue of humanoid safety- Gen 3 appears to be extremely safe with lots of soft padding. All pinch points have been completely eliminated.

Hands: Top of hands a different colour—same golden colour seen in the Cybercab—possibly to help Optimus focus on them when completing tasks involving intricate, precise movement. Or could be a purely aesthetic design choice. Retains a similar plastic forearm design seen in Gen 2 with the 22 DoF hands.

Biological Design: Complete redesign of all mechanical components, allowing for natural, lifelike movement.

Judging by the initial frame, which is the original image used to generate the video, it appears this is a prototype of the new Gen 3 mechanical platform midway through development, notice the difference in hands and forearms. Contrary to the general consensus, this is definitely real, you can even see a possible air vent on the shoulder and the details of the different pieces of fabric stitched together.

The fact they have been able to fit the mechanical components into such a small footprint, in an aesthetically pleasing form, a compliant form judging by the way the arm can be handled, is something I never thought I would live to see. This is the future of robots- soft, extremely safe, biologically inspired and fully capable of operating at a human level for all tasks. Incredible to finally see Gen 3. It surpasses all my expectations.

This is a man announcing to the world that it has been conquered.

You're right, it's an incredible leap. The detail on the prototype is what sells it those fabric seams and the way the arm moves. Seeing it all packed into that human-like form is genuinely mind-blowing. The future's here.

The silence on this by commentators who normally go gaga over every little Optims change is really weird. Where is all the in-depth analysis on this? Can’t find one video discussing the technical details or implications of this new design.

Saw the cyber bulls talking about it, won’t watch them again. Absolutely zero understanding or appreciation of just how incredible this is. It’s like because it doesn’t look like some big hulking dinosaur of a robot that it’s somehow not worth taking an interest in.

Boggles the mind, thought this would cause a huge amount of discussion.
