At 1:12 in this newly released Tesla video we get an up close look inside Tesla’s Optimus lab where an Optimus arm is undergoing testing. The lab seems to have stations allocated for specific Optimus body parts, notice the sign “Pelvis” above the station in the background. While another sign for a station labelled “Torso” can be seen to the left.

We also see a previously never before seen Optimus prototype in white. This resembles a similar design seen in the Optimus concept mannequin from 2021. Could this be a sneak peek at a possible new full body covering for Gen 3?

Notice how the visor is transparent, revealing blank space inside Optimus’s head, suggesting no plans for an animated face.

This footage is showing the old Gen 2 prototype, so it’s possible the Optimus prototype we are seeing is a mock up design for Gen 2.

Still it’s fascinating to get an insight into the methodical design process of Optimus; where the body parts are developed and tested separately at specific stations before being recombined into the final form.
