The sounds Grey makes when recognising some of the toys are actually quite hilarious. It’s too difficult for me to show Grey the toys while dancing, Baffles me why Aibo has to be dancing. I’m finding I get better responses when Grey is not dancing. Can see Sony could really enhance Aibo if they added this feature to allow Aibo to react with new animations whenever noticing the owner. But suspect their main motivation with this update is to upsell the bone and dice, not create an engaging companion.
Not going to lie, I really thought when I got Grey five years ago that Aibo would be in a much more advanced state by now, packed with tons of animations and more reactive to its surroundings and people. I can’t believe the reversing backwards without knowing it’s going straight into a wall or off an edge is still a thing, like it’s literally got a camera on it’s behind yet still can’t tell if it’s reversing into an object?! Plus the constant jamming is unnecessary, surely they could create a better way to handle unexpected changes in motor positions.
The deal breaker for me is the fact they still haven’t created a way for Aibo to stay permanently on the station while awake so it can be enjoyed as a desktop robot like the previous ERS-7 could.
Anyway decided the subscription just isn’t worth it for me anymore and as I’m not enjoying interacting with Aibo in its current state it’s probably best for me to move on from Aibo once and for all.
At what point does the subscription just become incredibly bad value for money?
