Apple has revealed footage of the prototype of its upcoming table top robot expected to be released sometime in 2026/2027.

The current prototype takes the form of a lamp, but the final version is expected to have an iPad type display and be capable of security monitoring and differentiating between various human voices using LLM Siri.

The price is expected to be around the $1000 dollar mark.

What do you think? Personally I feel robots have to have a practical function, designing for purely emotive reasons doesn’t resonate with the average consumer. If it could pick up and count tablets and keep track of a medication schedule it might be useful but apart from being cute and fun unsure if its complete uselessness otherwise is going to be popular with a wide audience.

As someone currently in the market for an iPhone I’m underwhelmed by Apple’s AI tech. Apple should be focusing all their attention on developing a competent LLM Siri.

I’m skeptical of this robot and feel it might be another Apple Vision Pro type moment.
