Xiaomu is adding Python support — for the makers and tinkerers among us (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone,

So I've got some news to share about Xiaomu that I think some of you tinkerers and makers are going to appreciate.

We've been listening to backers, and honestly a lot of you surprised us — turns out a solid chunk of the community doesn't just want a companion robot to chat with, they want to get under the hood. Whether it's teachers wanting to use Xiaomu in the classroom, parents doing robotics with their kids, or just people who like to poke around and build things... we heard you.

So: Xiaomu will support Python programming.

We'll be providing API access and programming documentation for those who want to go further and develop their own features and interactions. Think of it a bit like what the community has done with Wire-pod for Vector — that spirit of "what if I could make it do this" is exactly what we're going for.

A couple of things worth noting:

The standard Xiaomu ships as a ready-to-go companion — no setup headaches, just works right out of the box. That's still the default. If you want the programmable version, just leave a note when you submit your shipping address and we'll make sure you get the right unit along with the API docs.

If you're curious about the project, here's our Kickstarter:

We're really excited about where this can go, especially seeing what creative people do with it once it's in their hands. If you've got questions or ideas, drop them below — would love to hear what you'd want to build.

This is awesome news. I was hoping for something like this. Being able to code my own features is exactly why I backed the project. Looking forward to tinkering with it.
