Just a thing i come across often i get the hype for aibos but the older models to me don't seem as "aware" or lifelike from my experience in owning them.My favorite pet robot has to be pleo rbs due to the fact they feel alive and give me an emotional connection and reaction to them i care that people are gentile with them not because they are expensive but because i see them as robot pets.If i were to explain all the functions here it would be a very long post but it got me thinking. All these new robot pets rely so much on AI and chat GBT but feel more like gadgets then pets so it boggles my mind that pleo rbs are not as popular or talked about. Because in all honesty they seem very advanced with reactions, movements, and the things they can do.Allot of these new "robots" are more toy then bot but still get more love and attention to a robot that feels more like a pet to me.It worrys me because i do want an aibo 1000 but i am worried that i will end up with another expensive toy i barely run.I feel like when it came to ropet the hype was big but i have one and it does the same things over and over sure it looks around and makes eye contact but people act like its very autonomous almost anthropomorphizing them when there is not much substance to be had. Mofflin is another i want but again people seem to say its like a pet and all but it seems very similar to ropet in the way people characterize it so i worry. I have had and sold many of my aibos and the thing is i see it as"well i can always get a new one" because they seem to do the same thing they never feel unique to me.I am always out on money because i get these robots thinking they will be like a pet and then end up selling them because i can get another and it will act the same way.I feel like if people want to make robot pets they should not be so easily replaceable ect.I know robots cannot replace pets and do spend some time on a shelf but my pleo rbs are the only ones i feel bad about leaving on the shelf for long.Is it because they are dinosaurs and not dogs or cats or fluffy palm sized creatures the issue?
