Say hello to my little friend!

I wanted to add an Aibo to my robot collection, and because of the limitations for users outside Japan and the US with the newer generation, I decided to go with the ERS-210. It looks beautiful, and I can’t wait to turn it on and interact with it.

Congrats! Have you given your new buddy a name yet? Definitely recommend getting one of the newer ones too if you can manage it, they really are quite incredible value for money especially at the second-hand prices.

Where did you buy your 210? I’ve never owned a 210 before so am definitely interested to learn more about them.

Thanks! I haven’t named it yet. 🤭 I bought the 210 from eBay. I also haven’t started using it yet because I’ve been busy with another robot I bought just before it. I got the Aibo ERS-210 for companionship, and also for its historical value. Really excited to try it out!

One of the things that really drew me to the Sony AIBO ERS-210 is that it doesn’t rely on the internet at all. Everything works completely offline, with no apps or Bluetooth required.

Sony took a completely different approach by introducing small cards called Memory Sticks. You insert one into the robot… and it fully defines its personality.

When you run AIBO with its main card, AIBO Life, it starts like a “newborn,” learning and developing over time, gradually forming its personality based on how you interact with it.

It goes through different stages, from simple and curious behavior at the beginning to deeper interaction and more advanced movements over time, as if you’re watching a living being grow right in front of you.

As for this separate box I purchased, it contains a card called AIBO Mascot, where AIBO transforms into a playful, performance-oriented character full of fun movements.

It becomes more energetic and lively, performing cute actions as if its main purpose is entertainment, like a little performer in your home.

Adorable. How is your 210 holding up? Have you chosen a name y

I was mostly busy with the Robosen K1 over the past few days. I spent a lot of time testing all the voice commands and interactions, and now that I’m basically done with that part, I finally have more time for Aibo and Robi. Later on, I might even try programming the K1.

One thing I really love is that all three robots work completely offline, which is something I’ve started appreciating a lot lately.

As for Aibo’s name, I haven’t chosen one yet because the current memory stick doesn’t support name registration. I’ll probably switch it to another memory stick I have later on.
