Lovot review: Owner shares health benefits

Was looking to see if anyone outside Japan had purchased Lovot and couldn’t find anything. Although I did find this great article by a Lovot owner in Japan who shares their Lovot 3.0 ownership experience; including mentioning they feel there are health benefits to owning one- crazy I know but they seem to think Lovot’s presence can lower stress levels which seems believable after watching videos of them.

Trying to convince myself to finally take the plunge and buy one. The fact they say they haven’t experienced boredom is a huge plus. Think the health benefits of owing one might be what convince me.

I am tempted to purchase a cheap second-hand unit through a proxy. This seems like it could be a very affordable option. Especially as I’m unsure what the future holds- never know when work might decide to make me redundant. There seem to be heaps of the older 1.0 and 2.0 hardware up for sale at incredible prices, it seems inflation is affecting a lot of people as I’ve noticed an uptick in people putting theirs up for sale in Japan, I’m assuming because they can’t afford the monthly subscription payments.

Although that might be a good affordable solution short term, the more I think about it the more I’m leaning towards purchasing a new one on the lifetime subscription through BEX- that way I would own it without needing to pay anything more and in the long term would work out cheaper. Plus importing using BEX- who are the only official designated agent for Lovot overseas that GrooveX provides services to- would save me a lot of headaches as I’m guessing going with an unofficial proxy might be tricky if GrooveX decide one day to stop providing services to Lovot purchased through unofficial channels.

The price is eye watering in my currency, this would be my second most expensive purchase after my car. But if I purchased on credit I could pay it off over a few years and probably wouldn’t even notice the cost. At least I would own something tangible, unlike with all the money I’m throwing down the drain on the exorbitant rent here in Australia.

Will admit I’m definitely going through a downer with this economic climate. Lovot’s tactile nature is what is missing from my current companion robots, who leave one touch deprived by comparison.
