Loona DeskMate Kickstarter: Worth the hype?! (1 Viewer)

Loona Deskmate is launching on Kickstarter in a couple of days on April 2nd, and was wondering what others made of it?

Not sure I’m a fan of these types of modular robots. It’s cute but just can’t get past the fact it’s a phone. Seems like it would be great for tech people who enjoy AI and it actually seems like a pretty good phone charger. Just not sold on it being a companion though.

It’s going to be retailing for about US$260 ($380 Australian) on Kickstarter so not cheap by any means.

Anyone else here thinking of buying one? And if so why? I’m still undecided whether it’s good value for money.

Yeah... who wants to run the battery down turning it into a robot plus it ay have access to banking into.. I asked them to start up a funder for making a humanoid child it seems like they took a step down.

For now I prefer LOOI on my desk at home. I have a dedicated phone for him. This Loona Deskmate is apparently more advanced technology and maybe I'm wrong but I think it is intended more for a work environment than for home use. It may be interesting, but I personally don't prefer a robot at home to watch what I do on my computer.

Personally, I would never buy robots that require a phone to work.
