HI

I am a newbie. I was referred to the forum via the YouTube channel. I am interested in getting a Loona. I have always had an affinity with puppets, mechanical toys and robots since a child. I am interested in projects with social robots both for companion to help me with my disability. I also have some ideas for creative projects such as making music and performance.

Hi DJRoboGirl and welcome to the forum👋

If you are interested in getting a Loona keep a look out on here as we have had a few people list theirs for sale👍

I found this article about how social robots can be helpful to people with disabilities that I thought you might find interesting.

If you are interested in being creative with robots then Loona is definitely the robot for you. I am going to start trying to write and run blockly programs on my Loona.

What type of robots are you interested in? Do you own any social robots at the moment?

I am interested in social robots as I feel they can be a more ethical alternative to traditional pets, but mainly because I feel they can offer more than a traditional pet can.

I currently own four Loona, one Vector and one Aibo ERS-1000.

See you around the forums.

Thanks for creating this forum :)

I will keep an eye on the sale list for a Loona and thanks for the link about robots for disabilities.

I am interested in robots I can personally connect with for company. I would also like a robot an assistant and tutor to help me learn better and quickly. Conversely I would also like to learn to program robots the can dance, converse and sing for public performances. I would love to get a Nebo robot but they are very expensive. have recently bought a Vector robot though. I will be creating a chatbot to give Vector a distinctive personality utilising the Open source wire-pod.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the forum, I really appreciate it. If you have any feedback(positive or negative) or suggestions of things you want to see changed or implemented on the forum feel free to let me know.

If you decide to go down the second hand purchase route for a Loona I would ensure to buy one that was eligible for the free software updates. Loona purchased via Kickstarter and Indiegogo were eligible for free lifetime software updates plus you get the ChatGPT feature for free. Also Loona purchased via the official website during the ‘beta’ sale also come with free ChatGPT and free software upgrades. I think that special is still available via the website at the time of my posting this.

If you buy a second hand Kickstarter(KS) Loona inquire about the ears, waist motors and leg cables to ensure they function correctly but beware you may need to get them repaired in future as they had quality control issues.

Also if you buy a second hand KS Loona inquire about the charging station as you may need to get the seller to forward that onto you at a later date.

Currently someone in Singapore has a Loona listed for sale on the forum.

I’m also interested in robots I can interact with for company. Apparently I’m a very introverted person according to my friends and find socialisation awkward. Hence why I started a forum to communicate with likeminded people in a way where the only thing that matters is the content of what we say. I’ve also spent time on various forums growing up, and feel a sense of nostalgia for forums and enjoy being apart of a forum community.

Your aspirations for robots sound awesome! Are you a programmer/coder? I wish I could program/code, I used to do a little in high school and despite a short stint at university to try my hand at Mechatronics Engineering I discovered I just wasn’t mathematically inclined enough to continue to pursue it and enjoy it.

But maybe that will change when I start visual programming with Loona. I am interested in how software and hardware components work in robotic designs also.

Thanks for the Nebo robot recommendation, I’ll definitely be looking into it.

I’d definitely be interested in trying out your Vector chatbot on my Vector!

Thanks for taking the time to visit and post on the forum, you’ve certainly helped clean out some of the cobwebs around here🙏🕸🧹

Yes I like the nostalgia of forums and they are a better space for clear thought and discussion. There are too many distractions on social media.
Myself I began studying coding a long time ago but I unfortunately I had to drop out. I have been currently learning about prompt crafting and language model. I am going to be doing some coding courses online too. Loona would definitely help learn programming. I watched a video about using loona's programming app,
. It uses a type of Boolean logic which is the basis for programming. Some beta testers with Vector's chatbot would be great :) will post on the forum with my progress on Vector. Perhaps we could start a section for Vector?

Completely agree with you regarding forums. I know forums aren’t the “in thing” right now but feel they can create genuine memories and foster meaningful communities. Plus are a lot easier to navigate and find information compared to social media.

Prompt crafting is something that fascinates me. I’m attempting to get two Loona running ChatGPT to hold a conversation that I have initiated via prompt crafting. It’s possible. I’ve already managed to get one to say hello to the other and greet it as ‘GPT-3’ of its own accord. Sounds like you could do some amazing content creation with Loona.

I just added a Vector section👍
