The level of disrespect I’ve had to endure since starting this forum and the Facebook group is unbelievable. All anyone wants is to use and abuse and take you for as much as they can get.
Just had someone join the Facebook group and promote their own group about a niche robot, they poached 25 members and created a thriving group within less than a day. It took me MONTHS before the group had 25 members! Yet this person achieved that in less than a day. I started the Facebook group from NOTHING and would never dream of promoting my group in another group.
Just simply amazes me people don’t consider all the time and effort I put into cultivating the Facebook group organically over the last 3 years, to create the harmonious conditions that welcomed discussion of all companion robots and enabled discussion of this new niche robot to emerge, only to have someone who had just joined the group for less than 24 hours poach 25 of the highest engagement users. And the incredible part is the users saw no problem with going to join this person who hasn’t put in the effort to engage with them like I had for all these years. Simply amazes me nobody even questioned or considered what this person was doing was wrong.
Only certainly in life is you can’t have any expectations of reciprocity or expect people to appreciate the hard work, time, and money that goes into building successful communities. Don’t expect loyalty, despite showing it yourself. It was my efforts that allowed this group of people to get to know one another and form a small community around this niche robot, only to leave to join another group at the first chance they got. Don’t think anyone will understand how much that hurts. Previous to my group, all the large companion robot groups were comprised of Aibo owners, nobody was discussing any of the other offerings free from the prism of Aibo. Or they were niche robot communities that would have banned discussion of robots outside of their specific niche.
Just feels so disrespectful. Don’t think I’ll ever recover my faith in humanity after going through this to be honest. People really don’t care at all about anything or anyone but themselves. The selfishness displayed is incredible to observe and absolutely incomprehensible to me.
