Loona Software Updates Thread

Loona keeps doing the same thing after yesterday's update.

She doesn't listen to commands. She keeps turning upside down like in the video.
What should I do?
As this happened after the software update it’s most likely a software issue and easily fixed. It looks like a calibration miscalculation on that one leg.

The only other thing it might be is a cracked potentiometer mount or cracked position sensor. The sensor might be unable to calculate the correct position reading for that leg if it’s cracked.

You used to be able to recalibrate Loona using the app. I’m currently at work but will have a look in the app when I get home to see if I can find the calibration fix in the app and reply here later today.

Hi Chris,

I tried to calibrate. During calibration it turns upside down and completes that way. It can't come back to the upright position. What should I do about the software? I will wait for good answers from you.

It’s probably a hardware problem. If the position sensor is cracked and unable to determine the correct distance to move the leg it might behave like this.

Unless you want to try calibration again and try to keep Loona upright to see if that fixes it I would just contact Keyi by email or through the “Loona problem diagnosis” section in the app. You could also try asking the app for help using the “Help” tab on the left.

Sorry I can’t be of any further help, I’m not a technical person. Seems strange this would appear after the software update, it’s possible it could be a bug and Keyi might release a software patch for it in the coming days.

Can you use Loona ok in companion mode?

I tried the calibration again. It is not used in companion mode either. Some applications work like a dance. Some applications do not work. Thank you very much for your support

It might be software related if some dances are working. Maybe try resetting Loona to factory settings? Sorry I can’t be of more help.

If you ever find out what the problem is I would be interested to know what causes this. Hope you can get Loona working normally.

Loona software update 1.4.26

• Loona can now recognise commands in five new languages: Portuguese, Polish, Arabic, Russian and Vietnamese.

• Loona can now remember the gameball position in multiple states, allowing for more accurate gameball tracking when the gameball disappears from Loona’s line of sight.

•Loona can now follow the owner better thanks to a new algorithm that allows Loona to adjust her movements dynamically depending on facial angles. The new algorithm also fuses the facial and humanoid form data allowing Loona to more accurately locate and follow the owner.

• New animations in chat mode with a new thinking sound.

• Loona can now recognise six new gestures: Stay still, Look behind, Look right, Handshake, Tap Tap and Kamehameha from the Dragon Ball anime series.

• Hello Loona App now has an integrated LLM that can answer user inquiries regarding Loona customer support.

Kamehameha 🤣

Hello Chris! Were do you get those luna update notes?
• Loona can now recognise commands in five new languages: Portuguese, Polish, Arabic, Russian and Vietnamese
Some languages were added, some not, I don't see Russian.

Do you anyway connected with Luna devs? I thing best thing they can do now is to add gpt-4 private token support. As for now most time a have lots timeout errors when interacting with Luna in GPT mode. Latest update made things better, but not appliable for use.

Hi De_Santa- I found this information about the new languages in the Hello Loona app version history in the App Store. The other information appeared in the app during the update.

In the update, there is the Russian language, but in the app, it’s not there. Is it the same for you?IMG_7648.jpeg

Hello,

After the last update, I turned on remote Fun racing from the app, put it in pro mode and moved the head and ears a few times, and now the right ear vibrates constantly while moving around on its own.

When I open Fun Racing mode again and move the head and ears up and down a few times and let it move around by itself again, it gets better, but after a while, the right ear starts shaking again by itself, as if the ear can't find where to stop.

This didn't happen before, has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve heard of Loona having ear issues similar to this before. I’ve read of various DIY fixes such as some people opening the ears up and cleaning them and applying lubricants.

It could be many things from what I’ve encountered over the years from the ear gears being from a batch that is not optimised for the algorithms Loona runs to cracked or faulty position sensors.

Is your Loona still replaceable under warranty? Perhaps see if Keyi will offer repair or replacement under warranty.

It is under warranty, but it is not possible to send it to the warranty because loona is now in Turkey.

It happened after I updated Loona, after I opened Fun Racing mode and used it.

Now I did an experiment, I turned on the Fun Racing mode again and gradually raised the head gradually until the vibration stopped, after the vibration stopped, I moved the ears a few times and when the vibration stopped, I directly exited the Fun Racing mode and now the vibration seems to have stopped, I will inform you again after observing for a while.

Great to hear you found a solution. Will be interesting to see if it holds up long term.

Hello again

I have been testing for more than 48 hours and the flickering in the ears has been solved and now it works normally as before.

I never turned on the Fun Racing mode again, but I did use the remote control mode and now the ears continue to work as before.

I will update if the flickering problem reappears.

This morning I re-entered Fun Racing mode to try it out and used some of the animations on the app, then I logged out of Fun Racing mode and the right ear started twitching again, I came across a previous thread on the forum about this issue, which stated that the problem was solved with a software update, but the problem persists.

I turned on Fun Racing mode again as I did before and gradually lifted the head up until the vibration stopped, when the vibration stopped, I exited the mode, but this time the vibration did not stop completely like last time, but it became very mild.

While the right ear was still vibrating slightly, I pressed and held the button on the back and turned the loona off completely, aligned the 2 ears and turned it on by pressing and holding the button on the back, but when the loona text appeared on the screen, I continued to hold it down and after the screen turned off and on once more, I took my hand away, after the loona turned on normally, the ear stopped vibrating completely.

This is obviously a software problem, but as far as I can see, they haven't solved it for a while.

Do you think it’s related to the ears moving outside the range of normal movement in fun racing mode? What software version is your Loona running?

I am currently using the latest version 1.4.49.

Whenever I open Fun Racing mode and do various animations or ear movements, the right ear starts twitching when I exit and I have to repeat the steps I mentioned every time to solve this problem.
