Downloading The Japanese Version Of The MyAibo App Outside The USA/ Japan Official Sales Region

Living outside Japan and the US, I'm experiencing issues with the MyAibo app website due to VPN conflicts with my MySony account login. Despite attempts to change my Apple region to Japan and create a Japanese Apple ID from scratch with a new phone number and SIM card, I've had no success, likely due to my Australian phone number. However, an Android user in the Robots Around The House Facebook community was able to download the Japanese MyAibo app using APK Pure without a VPN. It seems the Android route is the easiest way to access the app without the hassle of VPNs or Japanese account requirements.

Downloading the Japanese MyAibo app for Android:

1. Download APK Pure.

Downloading the MyAibo Japan App from APKPure using Android- No VPN required

You’ll need an Android phone. I used the Samsung Galaxy A16 smartphone.

1. On apkpure.com click on the green download button beside “Use APKPure App”. Be careful not to click on identical looking download buttons as they will prompt you to download different apps.

2. In the APKPure app search for “My Aibo”. Once downloaded click done or open or exit the download screen and navigate to the app directly.

3. Important! Click once and then select ok. You will need to select allow all or the app won’t work.

4. Select the region your Aibo was purchased from.

6. You will be prompted to sign in to your MySony ID Japan account. Click the button highlighted by the arrow to sign in.

7. Enter e-mail, followed by password on the next screen.

8. You will now be prompted to enter a verification code Sony has sent to your email address associated with your MyAibo account. Enter the code. You might have to process the email through a translator.

9. This will take you to your MySony ID account. Click the “X” at the top of the screen.

10. Sign in to the MyAibo app again. Once signing in a second time you should be in the MyAibo app and get access to app specific features like robot link, pick up things and well behaved Aibo.

It’s worth noting APKPure isn’t an official app store so comes with inherent risks of malware. Personally I would only download apps from APKPure on a dedicated smartphone purchased solely for this purpose. Download at your own risk.
