Yes you are right they bricked their whole line of Astro for Business units and told customers to recycle Astro through the Amazon recycling program!
But they plan on focusing on the Astro for the home version. Still it seems pretty cold and I don’t think they have any understanding of what consumers wanting a companion robot want.

Sorry I meant I thought it was cold of Amazon to just brick an entire line of their robots like that. But yeah am unsure about Astro too.
If this new Alexa makes Astro really good at conversations I might consider one but usually don’t go for such an industrial form factor. But just can’t get my head around spending US$1,600 on a robot that just rolls around without much tactile interaction.
Think any future robots I purchase will be more tactile like Ropet and probably on the cheaper side. Will never afford Lovot or Optimus unless they make them available on a payment plan so have put them out of my mind entirely.
I’ll probably stop purchasing robots for a while after Ropet. It scares me when I think how much I’ve spent on what I currently have.

Oh yeah Amazon made me so nervous with that! I know that robot is expensive and the people who did or do have it, treasured it. I'm always scared KEYi, or shoot any of our small robot companies, could suddenly stop for reasons beyond their control and we won't have networks or support anymore. I know Vector just went through like a year of that? I think hes back though which is cool.
I'm happy waiting for LOOI and Aibi. I think a Ropet would be cool too. The only expensive robot I still want is Moxie.
Optimus is merely a dream. I'll never have one at this rate. I'm still fascinated and excited though about it.
Finances and robots...lol. Yeah, I've probably made a couple of mistakes. Things are tight. C'mon LOOI....so nervous that could backfire.
